GLEN ELLYN, IL — Ackerman Sports and Fitness Center has reopened its doors to the public as of Monday with regular hours in effect, and has several safety protocols in place to help prevent the spread of the new coronavirus. Some safety measures include increased sanitation stations, increased spacing of exercise equipment and a requirement for patrons and staff to wear masks when not exercising.
In the fitness center, exercise equipment has been spaced to allow for social distancing, according to an update on the Ackerman Sports and Fitness Center website. To encourage social distancing on the walking and running track, no more than 15 people will be permitted at a time. If there is a wait, runners and walkers will be limited to 40 minutes each.
Select indoor and outdoor fitness classes also resumed Monday and are limited to up to 35 participants. Schedules are staggered and participation is limited to encourage social distancing. Participants are encouraged to bring their own exercise mats and towels. Click the link to view a full class schedule.
During the initial reopen, child care will not be offered at Ackerman Sports and Fitness Complex. Other facilities that will be closed include indoor rock climbing and open gym and turf.
