Marcus Trescothick has had his own battles with mental health

Running helps keep ‘positive mindset’ during lockdown, says Dom Bess

England spinner Dom Bess revealed keeping on top of his fitness has proven a suitable distraction from the anxiety he felt when learning the country was going into lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Bess last month opened up about his mental health struggles in an interview with The Sun and he discussed the topic further, including what can influence his “triggers”, in a chat with former Somerset team-mate Marcus Trescothick.

The pair’s conversation during Mental Health Awareness week took place on Zoom, a necessity due to the Government measures imposed by the ongoing public health crisis.

He said: “I’ve actually been alright during the lockdown. I was very anxious about the situation, not knowing how long it could be, but getting that structure in has really helped me.

“Getting out running and fit always gets me in a positive mindset and having a bit of structure.

“I know how

Adrian Mariappa shocked to learn of positive coronavirus test

Adrian Mariappa has revealed his shock at being told he was the Watford player who had tested positive for coronavirus, despite not displaying any symptoms or breaking social distancing guidelines.

Mariappa’s was one of six positive results to come back from the first wave of Premier League testing this week, along with two other members of Watford staff and Burnley assistant manager Ian Woan.

The 33-year-old defender, who lives with his partner and three of his four children, has spent lockdown dividing his time between following his Watford fitness programme and homeschooling.

Talking exclusively to Telegraph Sport, Mariappa said: “Ever since I got my positive result back on Tuesday, I’ve been scratching my head to try to work out how I might have got coronavirus. It was a big surprise because I haven’t really left the house, apart from some exercise and the odd walk with the kids. I’ve mainly

Biotech ETFs Gain on New Positive Data for Gilead’s Remdesivir

The coronavirus pandemic continues to spread globally as the number of infected cases rise more than 3.2 million, with the death toll at least 227,000. Moreover, the United States has witnessed more than a million coronavirus cases so far. In such a grim scenario, the latest positive early clinical trial results for Gilead Sciences’ GILD experimental coronavirus drug, remdesivir, has instilled optimism among investors. The company’s shares rose 5.7% after the data release on Apr 29.

Gilead Sciences announced results from the open-label, Phase 3 SIMPLE trial studying 5-day and 10-day dosing durations of the investigational antiviral remdesivir in hospitalized COVID-19 cases with serious complications. The results reflect that at least 50% of the patients that were treated with a five-day dosage of remdesivir improved and more than half were discharged from the hospital within two weeks, per a CNBC article.

2 pet cats test positive for COVID-19 in New York

2 pet cats test positive for COVID-19 in New York

Two pet cats in New York state have tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the new coronavirus that has claimed more than 180,000 human lives globally, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). This comes after several lions and tigers contracted the disease at the Bronx Zoo earlier this month.

The USDA said these are the first pets in the U.S. to test positive for COVID-19. They had mild respiratory illnesses and are expected to recover. Officials say the cats may have contracted the disease from people in their households or neighborhoods. The pets lived in separate areas in New York, the USDA pointed out.

“… A veterinarian tested the first cat after it showed mild respiratory signs. No individuals in the household were confirmed to be ill with COVID-19,” USDA said in its press release. “The virus may have been transmitted to this cat by mildly

ICE has tested a tiny fraction of its detainees for COVID-19. Most of them were positive

ICE has tested a tiny fraction of its detainees for COVID-19. Most of them were positive

At least 60% of immigration detainees who have been tested nationwide have the virus that causes COVID-19, according to federal data.

According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, 425 of its 32,309 detainees have been tested for the new coronavirus as of Tuesday.

The numbers from ICE reveal that only 1.32% of its detainees have been tested. Out of those 425 tests, the agency says on its website that 253 people tested positive as of Wednesday, meaning that 59.5% of people who were tested have the virus.

That number could be higher because ICE does not update its website in real time. In the past few weeks, officials have delayed by up to a week in posting the number of confirmed cases on its COVID-19 webpage.

ICE does not report on its site how many tests have been administered. The Miami Herald obtained those numbers from an agency official on

Recovered coronavirus patients test positive again in blow to immunity hopes

Recovered coronavirus patients test positive again in blow to immunity hopes

South Korea reported on Friday that 91 recovered coronavirus patients have tested positive for the disease again, raising questions over health experts’ understanding of the pandemic.

The prospect of people being re-infected with the virus is of international concern, as many countries are hoping that infected populations will develop sufficient immunity to prevent a resurgence of the pandemic.

The reports have also prompted fears the virus may remain active in patients for much longer than was previously thought.

Korean health officials reported Friday that 91 patients thought to have been cleared of the virus had tested positive again, up from 51 people on Monday.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) announced it had sent a team to the city of Daegu, the worst hit area, to investigate why patients there were testing positive again.

WARMINSTER, PA — An employee of Ann’s Choice, the senior-living community in Warminster, has tested positive for the new coronavirus.

Ann’s Choice officials said they are “taking every measure necessary” to protect their community during the outbreak and that no other employees or residents have tested positive. They said they are “closely monitoring those who live and work at our community so we can take immediate action if needed.”

The worker who tested positive for COVID-19 is at home and receiving appropriate treatment, the company said. Everyone who had been in close contact with the employee has been notified and told to remain in their homes for 14 days.
